School Social Worker
Elly Tran is the school social worker at Big Woods and St. Michael Elementary schools. At Big Woods, Ms. Tran works primarily with students who have special education needs. Ms. Tran is dedicated to supporting the social/emotional growth of our students. She works together with staff and families to help students better manage emotions, build friendships and become independent problem solvers. Ms. Tran works on a 6 digital day schedule. She's at St. Michael Elementary on digital days 1 and 5, and at Big Woods on days 2, 3, 4 and 6. She accesses the same email and voicemail in both buildings. School-Based Mental Health
Lucy Kapustka is our Elementary School Therapist through CanvasHealth. Ms. Kapustka's goal is to support students, families, teachers, and administrators. She works in the school's community setting to help identify and address mental health concerns, and eliminate barriers to accessing care. She is at Big Woods Elementary 5 days per week. MACMH (Minnesota Association for Children's Mental Health) has a number of resources to help with children's mental health issues.
